One of the great deals on
the market for budget minded ATM's who build refractors are the
range of GSO Crayford focusers on the market. hey are typically sold
by
Agena AstroProducts.
Mine is a 2" dual-speed 10:1 model with 86.4mm base diameter and
1.25" adapter, which cost under $200.00. I know they are imports,
but they also perform well for the price. A comparable focuser from
some of the other Crayford focuser manufactures (who I will not
mention here, because I like them too) would go for twice as much.
The focuser was mounted
to the focuser-to-tube adapter using stainless steel hardware in
three locations. Collimation is not available with this
installation, but remember that I laser collimated the focuser
earlier to get it aligned as best as possible. I also cut the tube
accurately to minimize off axis anomalies. She will do well. |
