Sonotube - Unsanded with Epoxy Sealed Edges

Using the rolled and champed yellow poster board seen below the suspended tube, it was evenly wrapped and secured around its circumference at a specific point along the length of the tube. Then a line was drawn around the circumference of the tube 8 1/4" from the end to establish the tubes required length. Using a jigsaw, the tube was carefully cut along the line to produce the finished length of tube - 63.5". The interior plastic lining was slowly and meticulously peeled from the tube, leaving only a small remainder of which could not be reached (refer to view down center of tube later in this section). Later, the short trimmed off sections of tube removed earlier will have small slots removed along their lengths. This will reduce their diameters in order to make it easier to insert into the main tube. Once glued in place these inserts will cover small unreachable patches of plastic liner coating the middle interior section of the SonotubeŽ. Then all screw holes were drilled - including the Focuser opening. As visible by the slightly darker areas of the tube in the photo above, a couple coats of 2 part epoxy was applied to the front and rear edges and screw and focuser holes to seal them against moisture intrusion.
