is an old favorite from University Optics. This is the 10" inch
mirror mount that will be used for the SAO's Newtonian. The two main
components of
this mount are solid cast aluminum (tube mounting ring, and 9 pad
mirror support bracket.) Three nylon thumb screws are used to center the
mirror in the bracket and three retainer clips hold the main mirror down
against the nine rubber pads. I am considering using silicone caulking to hold
the mirror instead, This will allow the primary mirror to expand and
contract during temperature fluctuations minimizing stress, and flexure
causing a reduction in image quality. |
