| Once
removal of the wax coating by sanding is done, a tack cloth is used to remove the residual paper dust from the tube and
then the first two coats of 2-part epoxy are applied. Now the curing
process begins. The tube is allowed to dry and cure for nearly a week
before sanding. During the curing process, the tube is rotated a quarter
turn once a day to prevent
it from warping, becoming oblong, or elliptical in circumference. Note in the photo above how the epoxy penetrated the tube, turning it a
dark appearance. This reaction emphatically expresses true absorption
of the epoxy into the Sonotube® substrate.
Please
read and understand all instructions provided by the epoxy manufacturer.
Also please provide adequate ventilation when using epoxy. Do not mix more epoxy
than you will use in the allotted time specified by the manufacturer of
the epoxy you purchased.
