Before
installing the flocking material, I cleaned away all dust, particulate matter, and/ or
residue from the area to be flocked. Using ProtoStar®
adhesive flocking material, I covered the area just between the back
of the last baffle and the front of the Meade 127ED focuser. It was
not a requirement to install it, but it couldn't hurt either. To
apply the flocking material, I did it in strips. I divided the material into
four even length
sections that equaled the tubes internal circumference. Each section
was carefully lined up and installed. Just be careful to not let any
air bubbles form during installation. It is best to attach it at one
edge and work your way to the other using the smooth side of the
paper backing to press it into place. Again, do your best to keep
bubbles from forming under the material during its application.
Before installing the focuser, I waited a day to allow the adhesive
to cure; periodically pressing down the flocking material corners
and elsewhere if they were to pop up during the curing process.
NOTE: ONCE YOU REMOVE THE BACKING FROM THE FLOCKING MATERIAL, PLEASE
MAKE CERTAIN THAT YOU PLACE IT IN THE CORRECT LOCATION ON THE FIRST
TRY. THE ADHESIVE IS QUITE TACKY AND WILL GRAB TIGHT WITH THE
SLIGHTEST CONTACT.
