Assembly of the Cradles Rings locking mechanism... (Click for enlarged view)

Finally, we show you a picture depicting the installation of the solid brass 1/4"-20 threaded rods and dowels nuts with knurled knobs used to clamp the cradle rings around the main tube. The components for both cradle rings consist of the brass threaded rods and dowel nuts I mentioned earlier, stainless steel washers with nylon washers glued to them, and the two knurled knobs. To assemble, first I inserted the dowel nut into the hole drilled through the squared off end of the cradle rings. Then, the solid brass threaded rods were coated over the threads of the end that will be screwed into the dowel nut with 2-part epoxy. This produced the swing arm mechanism for locking the cradle rings using the knurled knobs. Pretty simple. Sorry for the overkill on the explanation. The nylon washers will provide a smoother turning action to the knurled knobs when installing and removing the OTA.
