127mm f/9.4 Cradle Rings Construction - Dovetail Plate and Bar 1

Using the angled base plate from an old computer networking rack, I fabricated the dovetail plate. The aluminum base plate from this old rack is 3/8" inch thick and was cut to size easily using a bi-metal blade on my 10" band saw. The piece was cut 13"L x 4.5"W. It will faithfully accommodate the cradle rings and 13" dovetail bar without fail. In the photo above, you can see where I have already cut the bulk dovetail plate piece from the angled base plate to the proper width of 4.5" inches. Lines have been drawn where I will be cutting the piece to length (13" inches). The dovetail bar in the upper left-hand corner will be centered and attached to the underside of the dovetail plate later. As you may have already guessed, it is 13" long also.
