Though the Crayford
focuser-to-tube adapter was connected to the main tube during the
finishing process, it was not bolted into place. It was basically
held in place utilizing the snugness of the center shim and covered
with the painters taped cardboard cap before priming and painting.
This was done so that the areas around the mounting holes for the
Crayford focuser-to-tube adapter could receive primer and paint. To
secure the Crayford focuser-to-tube adapter and painting, I used
three small stainless steel thread bolts with washers, lock washers
and nuts. They will do well in holding the adapter in place very
well. Looking into the back of the main tube, you can see the
flocking material. |
