After I purchased the
Carton cradle rings from Sheldon Faworski, I had no idea how large
they were. All I knew was that they are the same ones that were used
on the Japanese manufactured model Carton 100mm f/13 refractors of
old. So, I figured they would work with thin layers of felt lining.
Well, when I received the cradle rings, I discovered they were
significantly larger in inside diameter than the outside diameter of
my main tube, which was 4". Perhaps the outside diameter of the
manufactured version had a larger diameter tube. In my research I
could not find this information. No worries though. I found some
thick adhesive backed felt that filled the bill; measured to size
and ready to cut. |
