Carton 100mm f/13 "MD" OTA Construction - Main Tube (Cutting to proper size - Step 1 of 5)

Perpendicular line being etched into the main tube in prepartion to cut it to correct length. (Click to see an enlarged image.)

Once the main tube's length was determined based on the factors mentioned, it must be cut as perpendicular as possible. To achieve this, I used a sheet of card stock and wrapped it around the tube making certain that the sheet was snug against the tube and the sheets edge overlapped perfectly aligned at the point where I needed to cut the tube to length, which was 39.875". Tape was used to secure card stock in place, then I used a hacksaw blade to slowly and meticulously etch a shallow groove around the circumference of the main tube along the edge of the card stock as accurately as possible.

NOTE: Because of inaccurate cuts made by the tube supplier, please keep in mind, that you may have to perform this process for both ends of your tube.
