In this image, you can see both the objective cell retaining ring and
the front lens cell holder ready for priming after being buffing with
a 600-grit Scotch-Brite pad. Note: The threads on both parts will be
masked off to negate priming.
As I did with the lens cell for
the Carton 100mm f/13 "Mary Dawson" refractor by having Brian Choin
sign and date the cell he milled for me, I asked Eric Moerman to do
the same for the Jaegers 6" f/10 "Gelinda J. Dawson" refractor. They
both should be very proud of their work as I am in utilizing their
craftsmanship in the makeup of my telescope projects.
FYI - In
some circumstances, there are some amateurs who will blacken the outer
edges of their objective elements to aid in contrast emphasized
views of celestial objects. But in this case, I will not be doing so. |
