Guide Scope Restoration - Restoration of the Tasco 6TE-5 Refractor

Standing just in front of my colleague, Gary Barabino, on the camera stand is the telescope that I will use as the guide scope on the SAO 10" Fork Mounted Newtonian. It is a Tasco 6TE-5 50mm f/12 Refractor purchased by Gary back in 1971 and given to me in the early 1980's. I decided to restore and use this little telescope for historic reasons. I used this telescope in 1971 to record some really nice observations for the Vega. Its performance was quite good for a refractor of this size and merited restoration. So in the following pages we will do just that. Click on the arrow that points to the right to check out the steps we took in bringing this instrument back to life.
