OTA Finishing and Assembly - Unfinished Spider Vane Support Brackets

Click for Enlarged View
To hold the 2.14" secondary mirror, I purchased a Kenneth Novak Spider Vane and Diagonal Holder. Therefore, a component of this caliber deserves solid and dependable support. To aid in this effort, I decided to make solid oak brackets to hold the unit sufficiently and to reduce damage to the tube once the spider vane has been properly tensioned. Contoured in shape at their base, they will be mounted on the outside of the main telescope tube. Before the brackets are sanded and varnished, I will drill one recessed hole through the center of each to insert the attachment bolt for each of the spider legs.
