can hardly believe it! ...a few more tasks and the 10" SAO Fork Mount
Newtonian Reflector will be ready for official "First Light".
The primary is a 10" f/5.6 Coulter Optical Co. Annealed Pyrex®
mirror Silicon Monoxide (SiO) over coated with a 1/8 or better wave
front. It is about an inch and a quarter in thickness. It was purchased (believe it
or not) back in 1986 along with the 2.14" diagonal flat secondary
for the tidy sum of $143.50. Now mounted in a University Optics Inc.
mirror cell (painted in Krylon Ultra Flat Black enamel), it stands ready for installation as the final step in the
OTA finishing and assembly process. |
