closer look at the sanded epoxy coated surface of the tube shows the slight
imperfections (mottled deeper areas) where the sander did not reach.
This means that the high spots of cured epoxy were smoothed to nearly
the level of the darker shinier areas. You will also see where the
epoxy was not absorb due to residual spots of thin wax protection along
the overlapping spiral-wound line. Despite this appearance, the tube
feels very smooth to the touch. In the photo above, the flash bulb from my camera
is accentuating the imperfections in the tubes surface. |
