At the focal plane, I
chose to go with GSO components. Dual-speed 10:1 Crayford w/ 2" to
1.25" adapter, and J102 86.5mm to 98.5mm Crayford focuser-to-tube
adapter. Although they are modestly priced, they possess
functionality much like the big names, such as Moonlight and Feather
Touch. These components are well made and are all are anodized
aluminum. The only plastic you will find is the 1.25 plug for the
eyepiece adapter and the spacer shroud that is used to attach the
dual-speed unit to the main body of the Crayford focuser. The ball
bearings are sealed stainless steel (four in all) and work silky
smooth when the focuser is properly adjusted. The drawtube is
calibrated in millimeters and has just over 70mm of travel. A nice
set indeed. |
