With the
main tube sanded and buffed to a satin finish, it was time to
thoroughly remove the residual aluminum dust and debris from its
outside and inside surfaces. This step is critical in that you want
the surface to be as clean as possible to aid the primer and paint
to adhere as good as it can. To clean the tube, I used a product
called GOO GONE XtremeŽ remover. It is an acetone based product that
removes all signs of particulate matter, as well as grease and
grime, leaving your tube in the cleanest condition possible for
painting. You can also use straight acetone like many do, or even
mineral spirits. In either
case,
PLEASE DO NOT SMOKE, CAUSE A SPARK, WORK WITH THIS AND ANY OTHER
SIMILAR PRODUCT AROUND HOT AREAS WITHOUT PROPER VENTILATION - READ,
FOLLOW, AND UNDERSTAND ALL WARNINGS AND INSTRUCTIONS ON THE
CONTAINERS.
But before we begin painting of the main tube, we have to make the
baffles.
