The base will rise above the platform with these left and right external Right Ascension Axis Box Base Truss Arms. Working in conjunction with the shorter internal truss arm members (next step), they will support and transfer the weight of the telescope, cradle, and fork mount to the Base Platform. In designing these sections, I carefully considered the balance and center of gravity for the upper components mentioned previously. The south end of the truss arm system will extend beyond the south end edge of the base platform to help with facilitating the center of gravity. I will also utilize dowel-nuts near the south end to add superior strength to the union between the Base Truss Arms and Base Platform to eliminate the possibility of separation of these parts. The Base Truss Arm system rises about 21 inches above the base and is about 36 inches from the north end to the south end.
