Collimation of the GSO
Crayford focuser will be a little tricky since there are no
adjustment screws for tilt. But, because I initially cut my tube so
well, the focuser should nearly fall into proper alignment to the
center of the tube. So I should only have to make minute adjustment.
Next, the Newtonian laser collimator securely installed into the
focuser. At the other end, the paper target is centered and attached
to the objective end of the main tube. With everything in place, the
laser is turned on and the beam strikes the target, but is off only
by about a half inch from of the target's center. Only a small
amount is adjustment is need. A testament to the accuracy of how
well I cut the tube. |
