Note how sharp and crisp the knife-edge is in this frontal view of one of the baffles. This side will face the objective. When the focal cone goes through the hole, no light will have a chance to be deflection off of any flat surfaces that would degrade contrast. Now that the baffles are done. Let's get started installing them.
