Fork Mount Construction - Internal I-Beams for RA Axis Box

Internal I-Beams for the Right Ascension Axis Box (Click for enlarged view)

Understanding that constructing a fork mount with minimal flexure is quite a task, I gave much thought to the internal support structure of the RA Axis Box before coming up with the I-Beam design. The I-Beams were put together using wood glue and woodscrews. To test their strength, I actually stood on top of them individually with over 200lbs pounds and they did not budge or flex whatsoever! Each I-Beam is made up of three 5 3/4" by 7 1/4" inch pieces of Birch plywood. These components will flank the Right Ascension Axis on the inside of the RA Axis Box.
