Fork Mount Construction - RA Axis Box with the I-Beams Installed

Right Ascension Axis Box with I-Beams Installed (Click for enlarged view)

With the I-Beams installed inside of the RA Axis Box, we are now ready to install its top section. But, before this can be done, the right ascension axis must be attached to the flange of the top section. To accomplish this, holes will be drilled into the side of both the flange and one through the right ascension axis shaft.  One of the holes will be tapped in the flange to accept one 1/4"-20 thread machine bolt, which will push against the shaft, while the other hole will be reamed larger in the flange to accommodate the second 1/4"-20 thread machine bolt to pass through to the threaded hole in the shaft. A 1/16" inch shim will be inserted between the Right Ascension Axis shaft and the inside wall of the flange to center the shaft effectively.
