To properly secure the Truss Arms to the Base Platform in a more stabile and reliable manner, I added the two wedge shaped cleats shown here in the above photo. As you can see, we have already drilled the holes to accept the 1/4" x 20 x 4" long bolts that will screw into the Dowels-Nuts which will be inserted in the Truss Arms. The cleats were cut from the same stock as the Base Platform Chassis was constructed from (2 x 2 hard pine stakes). The cleats were glued into their positions before drilling the 5/16" holes. These components were definitely needed since the Truss Arms were not centered over the main chassis members. Recesses were drilled into each hole to allow the head of the 4" long bolt to be flush with the bottom of the chassis members.
