SAO 10” NEWTONIAN FORK MOUNT BASE CONSTRUCTION PREP   Page 2 of 2

With all of the wood components cut out for the Fork Mount base, we are now ready for assembly. We start with the base platform and chassis and end with the installation of the accessory compartment door, embellished with the VSC's logo. In the design process of the base, I angled the unit to hold the fork head at approximately a 30 degree angle, which relates to the latitude of New Orleans, LA. At the rear of the mount just under the RA Axis Support Housing, I will install an angle adjustment device (see base designs for) that will lift the entire telescope up on the south end to allow for latitude adjustments for sites further south closer to the equator. To resume the final construction steps and procedures of the SAO's 10" Fork Mount Base, please click on the upper left hand photo.
