Fork Mount Base Construction - Bolts to Secure Base Platform and Truss Arms

Bolts to Secure Base Platform and Truss Arms (Click for enlarged view)

Here we see the 1/4" x 20 x 4" long bolts as they are partially inserted into the predrilled holes of the wedge shaped cleats. Once pushed all of the way through the Base Platform, the base Truss Arms will be aligned with the protruding bolts over the top of the Base Platform and slowly dropped in place. The bolts will then be screwed into the inserted dowel-nuts of the Truss Arms. After tightening these bolts, the holding power of the union between the Base Platform and Truss Arms will be quite strong. To further help the joint between these major components, woodscrews will be installed from the bottom of Base Platform and into the Truss Arms along its length.
