Fork Mount Construction - Close-up of the Bottom RA Flange

Close-up of the Bottom Right Ascension Flange (Click for enlarged view)

Here we have a close-up shot of the lower external right ascension axis flange with the shaft installed. As seen in the photo, their are two holes drilled into the flange, whereas one has been reamed out to allow a 1/4x20 thread machine bolt to pass through it to reach the drilled and tapped hole in the wall of the right ascension axis. The other hole was drilled through the side of the flange and tapped to allow a 1/4x20 thread hex head lock screw, or machine bolt to push against the shaft. The same procedures were used on the top internally mounted flange. To center the shaft inside the flanges, 1/16" inch shims were utilized. Also note the numerous wood screws used to assemble this bad boy. It is no doubt tight rock solid.
