SAO 10” 'GARY BARABINO' NEWTONIAN FORK MOUNT BASE CONSTRUCTION PARTS    Page 1 of 2

The final major component has now been constructed - the Fork Mount base. Above is a montage of photos which display the individual pieces that make up the base for the SAO's 10" Equatorial Fork Mounted Newtonian. The design of the base was carefully realized and thought out to make it as sturdy, and functional in order to support the massive fork head. As an added plus, a roomy storage accessory compartment was incorporated in the design. It will be located at the north end of the base with the access door attached using a rust-proof aluminum 12" continuous hinge. The base platform is a one-layer 3/4 inch triangular section of plywood reinforced using a hard pine 2x2 inch framed chassis. The truss arms are double layered 3/4 inch plywood constructed to hold the Right Ascension Axis Support Housing. Casters will render mobility. Begin the construction procedures of the SAO" Fork Mounted Newtonian's base by clicking on the upper left-hand photo above. Hope you find these base construction steps useful in your own ATM project.
